Photojournalism
Since my first year on staff, photojournalism has always been my happy place. Although I love capturing the moment, whether it's one of victory, loss, camaraderie, or dedication, it is the process that follows that brings me peace. Sorting through blurry frames to catch a diamond-in-the-rough that elicits a gasp with its glory, filtering them into folders, and watching them upload into Google Drive one file at a time. Photography not only tells the story of my subjects - it tells the story of me and the path I've taken into the world of journalism.
Sports Photography
Note: First Flight High School has a very prevalent and successful sports culture. In my time in Publications, I have had the privilege of photographing several of our star teams, including the FFHS Boys Varsity Soccer Team who took home the NCHSAA 3A Boys State Soccer Championship in 2023.

Throwdown Surf Competition
Note: The Throwdown Surf Competition is a 15-year-old Outer Banks tradition started by a group of surfer dudes who wanted to spice up their usual meet ups by making it competitive. It focuses on surfers aged 18 and under and runs from 7 AM to 6PM on a Saturday in September. The event draws over 1,000 people and the proceeds are donated to the Outer Banks Relief Foundation which provides help to local families struggling with critical medical needs. I have been able to attend the past two years and witnessed firsthand the true sense of community created by this event. Like moths to a flame, locals are drawn to the water to support and encourage budding surfers and to help their neighbors with donations and cheers. This slideshow includes some of my best shots over the two years that I've had the privilege of attending.

Graduation
Note: Each of the past four years, I have somehow been involved with the ceremonial end game of high school. I sang in the chorus freshman year, took photos for newspaper sophomore and junior, and will finally be walking the stage come June 6th of 2025. I've shed tears of joy and sadness at each ceremony as I've watched friends and loved ones walk across that stage and expect to cry just as hard when its my turn. Graduation is the last step of high school and the first step of living, and I am honored to have captured the memories of so many people.

Personal Favorites
Note: Three years of experience behind a camera can lead to some show-stopping shots. They may not be perfect in many ways, but each of these photos holds a special place in my heart. Here are a few of the ones who live safely away from the threat of deletion.
